Why Does My Face Sweat So Much?

By stopsweating101 On December 21, 2009 Under Featured Post

Being a victim of excessive facial sweating is definitely one excruciating experience that can happen to a person. The causes can vary from person to person that range from genetics, foods, underlying conditions, anxiety and even medications.

Out of nowhere, your face is starting to sweat with no physical exertion or effort. You may have this condition for many years and yet you did not realize what was happening then until now that you are reading this. The truth is you have hyperhidrosis, which is a condition where the body will produce excessive sweating whether localized (i.e. face) or generalized that involves the whole body. You may have this condition at infancy then at childhood and continues from puberty until late adult.

As previously been mentioned, there are two major kinds of excessive sweating namely - localized and generalized. The localized type only appears in certain areas of the body such as the face and this might be the answer to your question “why does my face sweat so much?” On the other hand, the generalized type manifests all over the entire body. Sometimes, you cannot predict accurately when the episodes of sweating will occur.

There are varied reasons for each individual why they would start sweating excessively. This is the result of hyperactive sweat glands, which sends signals via the sympathetic nervous system that will release a command that makes the glands sweat. However, it can also be the result of a hyperactive thyroid gland, which could be another reason for this condition. As you can see, this gland is the largest in the endocrine system of the body. It regulates the metabolism effectively. Hyperactivity of this gland will result to excessive sweating, which is now known as the secondary form of hyperhidrosis.

Another factor would be genetics. It is likely that you are not the only one in your family that has this particular problem. They have possibly suffered it for a long time and may not realize that they have this condition as well.

Some triggering factors like social situations that will make you feel anxious or apprehensive can also be the reason why you will be sweating more than usual. As a matter of fact, this will make things worst for you since you will be feeling self-conscious and suffer from frustration, low self-esteem and depression. Other situations can also trigger this as well such as when you are in a professional situation.

Remember, your emotions not only physical exertion can trigger sweating therefore you must keep your calm at all times if you do not want to worsen the whole condition. Certain foods must also be avoided especially those hot and spicy foods because it will trigger the release of hormones that will make you sweat.
